Introduce yourself!
I'm a full-time creator based in Southern California! I've been creating content on and off since I was in my teens and I'm 24 now, so content creation comes so naturally to me! I create mostly beauty related content from beauty tips, to skincare, and even creative editorial and special effects makeup. I use to work on the brand side of things, but when I got laid off from my most recent job last year I decided to take a leap and go full-time with content creation!
Why did you become a creator?
I grew up watching so many creators on YouTube and decided to share my love for makeup on my own socials when I was around 14-15. I have always loved all things beauty, and how makeup has no rules so you can express yourself through it. I also love how you can turn something you genuinely love sharing into your full-time income with social media!
What is your favourite part about being a creator?
Being able to work for myself and create content in collaboration with some of my favorite brands. I love being able to think outside of the box on how I can create something for a specific product but market it in a new way. Also getting to play with new products and old favorites all day is the best thing ever :)
What does a typical content day look like for you?
Working for yourself as a full-time creator is the best when you get to make your own schedule! (But I also have to hold myself accountable lol) My typical day starts with admin work, responding to emails, and planning out my content list for the day. I'll check my Brkaway calendar and see what is ready to concept or what I can start shooting. I'll review concepts that are approved to see what different shots I need to get throughout the day. Most of the brands that I work with tend to want sunlight/golden hour clips. Therefore I'm always running around my apartment during the evening shooting all of those clips!
Do you have any advice/pointers for new creators?
Don't get caught up comparing yourself to others! Trends are a big part of social media/ content creation, but we can sometimes get caught up in only creating whats "trending" instead of what you genuinely want to share. So I would say don't be afraid to find your own style of content and share what you love without always thinking about whether something with go "viral"
