Creator Feature - Devon B.

It's time to meet Devon! Devon's content offers a unique take on everyday life in San Diego, blending humor, aesthetic edits, and wholesome family moments. As a creator, he captures the beauty of being a tourist in his hometown, delivering relatable, feel-good content. With a knack for visual storytelling and a focus on authenticity, Devon's work engages his audience while highlighting the joy in the everyday.

Introduce yourself!

My name is Devon and I’m a content creator based out of San Diego. I’m a Social Worker by day but a creative 24/7. I like centering my content around capturing moments of being a tourist in my own city, mixed with a little bit of humor, aesthetic edits, and wholesome content family content.

Why did you become a creator?

I like to believe I’ve always had an eye for capturing moments through images and video. Navigating social media always came really easy to me so overtime I started to share visuals that I found appealing. I had this “viral” piece of content centered around an amazing art piece that led to an opportunity of me be invited out VIP to an LA Art Show. From there I began to understand the value of my content and what other opportunities it could lead me to.

What is your favourite part about being a creator?

Seeing my content used in paid advertisement. I think it’s because I was part of helping a brand execute a vision, often times through adding my own personal touch to it or editing style. Beyond this, I love that being a creator has helped me build the confidence of speaking on camera.

What does a typical content day look like for you?

If I’m being honest, some days it looks completely hectic, especially balancing a velcro dog and an infant. On an ideal day, I’ll already have had some espresso, my creative script is hashed out with an ample shot list to follow, and atleast a good hour of uninterrupted filming.

Devon's Brkaway Portfolio

Do you have any advice/pointers for new creators?

Create that portfolio you’ve been putting off for a while now! You never know who is watching or coming across your profile that loves the content you make. Sometimes it’s easy to second guess the value of your content but you’ll never know unless you put it out there.

Anything else you'd like to share about your creator journey to date?

I fell into doing UGC all because I randomly took a chance and put an email address in my bio. I felt like an imposter when I did it but shortly after it led to a marketing agency reaching out to add me to their creator roster. They wanted to schedule to meet and I almost didn’t schedule because I thought it was a scam. When we met, I asked them “why me?” and They shared how they came across profile after seeing one of my travel reels and loved how aesthetically pleasing it was. This singular moment has led to so many more paid opportunities. It often makes me reflect and ask myself “what would’ve happened if I didn’t take that chance?”
