Introduce yourself!
I am an LA-based creative with a passion for all things beauty, fashion, and influencer marketing. My interests are rooted in self and artistic expression, which has led me to my current career in content creation and social strategy! Although born and raised in northern New Jersey, I moved to Los Angeles, California to attend UCLA and I’ve been here ever since! I am an avid thrifter, coffee drinker, hiker, and honestly enjoy anything outdoors and under the sun. I am all about meeting new people, connecting with my communities, and spreading good energy! :)
Why did you become a creator?
I’ve always had an interest in creative direction, cinematography, modeling, as well as marketing, and being a creator allows me to combine all of these passions into one! Additionally, while growing up, I received inspiration from creators on Instagram and youtube who presented authentically and weren’t afraid to break boundaries, which was essential to my self-discovery journey and dismantling societal norms/expectations! I hope to inspire the same for others and to increase representation for creators like myself!
What is your favourite part about being a creator?
There is so much I love about being a creator, so it's hard to pick one thing, but generally speaking, I would say the creative freedom of it all! I love that my content can span from long-from to short-form, aesthetic to causally speaking to the camera, etc. The range of ability to express while reaching one's audience is a beautiful thing, as you’re never limited!
What does a typical content day look like for you?
Content days look very different depending on what’s going on and what I’d like to capture. As I dabble between beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, some days are spent recreating makeup looks and trying new products, others are spent driving around the city with my camera mounted on my car vlogging, some are spent renting out studio spaces and batch shooting for Instagram and TikTok, etc
Do you have any advice/pointers for new creators?
Never feel pressured to niche down or to mimic certain styles of content, make what you want to see and capture it however feels right -- it’s your art! Treat the content creation process as your own personal art project, it’s all about you and how you’d like to express! Additionally, it’s normal/easy to feel “cringe” when investing in content creation, but it’s so important to remember that although it may feel like you’re just propping up a phone or camera, you are a full-blown business! When producing content for yourself or a brand, you wear the hat of a model, photographer, editor, social strategist, etc -- own it! It takes immense thought and skill to put together the production that is your content, so be proud and step into it!
I’d like to add that no matter how big or small you may feel as a creator, it’s so important to stay grounded in your individual journey! Social media makes it so easy to compare yourself, look at numbers, and quantify success based on other people’s content. Fall in love with the journey of building your own brand and shooting content rather than focusing on “going viral”. At the end of the day, this process of production is all about you! Lastly, I’d like to encourage others to practice the “real people” mindset, in that every view you get is a real person. I know it seems obvious, but it can be an inspiration when in times of low motivation. I used to feel so disappointed whenever a video only received 100 views, but imagining 100 people seated in a theatre for a screening of my video in person feels like a major success -- it’s all about perspective and you never know who is watching! :)
