In this article, Nichelle opens up about the influence of dance and theater on her journey as a creator. She outlines her content creation process, how Brkaway enhances her productivity, and offers advice to those aspiring to make their mark in content creation. Dive deeper into Nichelle's story below:
Introduce yourself!
I'm Nichelle, a content creator with a passion for beauty/self-care & empowering my community. I'm a ‘Jill of all trades!’ With 6 years of experience as a Corporate Recruiter. My bubbly personality, project management skills and leadership experience, has helped me develop a fun and engaged community of over 64K people across all my platforms.
Why did you become a creator?
I was the kid who was in dance recitals & theater clubs for years. I've also always enjoyed helping people; dedicating my time to countless community/non-profit organizations. As a creator, I'm able to connect & inspire my community while also satisfying my need to be creative. From conceptualizing a campaign to the editing process - it all provides me with intrinsic motivation & aligns with my extroverted artistic side.
What is your favourite part about being a creator?
My favorite part about being a creator is turning the camera on and letting my personality shine. Honorable mention: I love seeing the direct impact I make on others.
What does a typical content day look like for you?
I start off by looking at my calendar (Brkaway's calendar feature is super helpful!) I have a running list of topics I like to speak about for my personal pages & I also have deliverables from brands that have timelines for. After accessing & prioritizing my to-do list, I begin filming all of the clips that I need. Then.. I eat (haha) having a good meal right before editing always works for me. I typically edit outside of social platforms, keeping me organized and efficient.
Do you have any advice/pointers for new creators?
Be yourself! When you start creating based off of what you think people want to see, you may find yourself lost & without consistent growth. In the beginning, I think it's super important to understand that you being you will attract the community you seek to grow. Secondly, I suggest doing your research & getting comfortable editing utilizing tools & platforms such as Brkaway.
Anything else you'd like to share about your creator journey to date?
Being consistent really is key, you don't need to niche down to have an engaged community & whatever you do, stay grateful for where you are in your journey. All of your efforts add up :)
